Subjective well-being (SWB) is the scientific term for happiness and life satisfaction – thinking and feeling that your life is going well, not badly. People’s levels of subjective well-being are influenced by both internal and external factors
Subjective well-being is the personal perception and experience of positive and negative emotional responses and global and (domain) specific cognitive evaluations of satisfaction with life. It has been defined as ” a person’s cognitive and effective evaluations of life” (Diener, Lucas & Oshi, 2002, pg 63)
Simply, SWB is the individual evaluation of quality of life
